Three-time Olympian Mitch Larkin was one of thousands at the KDV Sport Centre on Queensland’s Gold Coast over the weekend for the 2024 Trilogy Funds Australian Pickleball Championships.
The Aussie swimmer said the Championships were proof of pickleball growing popularity across all ages and abilities, with divisions ranging from Under-14s to 75+ men’s, women’s and para.
“Congratulations to the 1300 amateur picklers who gave it their best shot,” Larkin said
“The tournament showed why pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, with players competing across all age groups and abilities across six days of events.
“There was certainly more of a social aspect to the event, compared to what I was used to, but it was great to see competitors of all ages, skill levels and abilities come together.”
Larkin said he was already eager to see what crowds the event could attract with 12 months more preparation.
“Around 25,000 Aussies are playing pickleball casually, and we hope to see the number of players continue to grow.”
With the tournament wrapped up for 2024, here are your winners of every age group’s highest skill rating - including men’s and women’s singles, doubles and para results.
