Former Australian Test opener David Warner isn’t showing mercy on his teammates as he laid the boots into a star’s struggles.

Labuschagne and Queensland found themselves firmly behind the eight ball following the second day of play with South Australia in complete control.

The 30-year-old Labuschagne fell for a duck on the opening day of play, facing only seven deliveries before flicking a ball off his pads to Jake Lehmann at leg slip.

The Queensland skipper bounced back with the willow in the second innings, scoring 61 runs from 88 deliveries.

It all came to an end at the hands of Brendan Doggett when he fell into the trap of flicking a rising ball off his hip into the hands of Jason Sangha in the deep.

It was the eerily similar nature of the two dismissals that saw Warner take aim with the 38-year-old scolding his former teammate.

“@marnus3cricket out the old way he always used to get dismissed,” Warner wrote on X.

“Caught leg side trap and then that little dab pull shot. Was lucky to get away with a few cuts in the air through gully also. Issues?? Love to see the stats! Plus out off a no ball and plumb + not out.”

Despite Labuschagne finishing on 61, his innings came with several moments of luck.

He was on 20 when he hooked a ball to the deep and was caught brilliantly by bowler Liam Scott at fine leg.

But the third umpire brought Labuschagne back to the middle after a review revealed Doggett had overstepped. He was then lucky to avoid being given out after being struck on the pads in front of the stumps.

Queensland entered the third day of play at 3/177 with a one-run lead, but South Australia quickly found themselves back in the box seat to win after taking two wickets early.

Chief first-innings destroyer Doggett took his match tally to 10 by dismissing the experienced Ben McDermott (17) and Jimmy Peirson (5), both lbw, to have Queensland at 5/192 and the lead at just 16.

Doggett took 6/31 in the first innings and has four so far in the second, and among his 10 wickets has included Test opener Usman Khawaja twice.

It is the first time he has taken 10 wickets in a first class match.
