SuperCoach BBL: Which Perth Scorchers should be in your sights for Round 6?

Josh Inglis or Cameron Bancroft? There’s good reason to consider both for your SuperCoach BBL team in Round 6, when Perth Scorchers have a double. But you’ve only got one wicketkeeping spot to fill. TRADE GUIDE.

Mitch Marsh is more than $30,000 cheaper than his starting price in SuperCoach BBL.

For the first time this SuperCoach BBL campaign, coaches have to choose between two glovemen from the same team in Round 6.

Perth Scorchers play twice in the last round before Australia’s one-day international squad heads to India on January 8.

The Scorchers have Josh Inglis ($144,800 WKP-BAT) and Cameron Bancroft ($103,000, WKP-BAT) in their top three who can be chosen as wicketkeepers in SuperCoach.

Inglis has been a revelation this season partnering Englishman Liam Livingstone at the top of the order, averaging 51.8 points a game to the end of Round 4.

Only Australian white-ball keeper Alex Carey (65.4) and Josh Philippe (59.6) had a better SuperCoach average than Inglis heading into Round 5.

While Inglis (120) has two less runs than Bancroft (122), his strike rate of (146.3) is far superior to the Scorchers No. 3 (125.8).

Weighing significantly in Bancroft’s favour is the $41,800 saving from choosing him instead of Inglis.

Trades this round will be complicated by Melbourne Stars having the bye before another double in Round 7.

Ideally, you want to hold at least two Stars to ensure you’re not left short for Round 7.

If you’re unable to trade players such as Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell and Haris Rauf, you’ll need to find value elsewhere.

This is where the extra $41,800 could be so important.

If you can avoid trading a Stars premium and instead use that money to upgrade an underperforming bench player, you can bench your Stars and be ahead of other coaches for Round 7.

The expectation is Ashton Turner and Ashton Agar will play twice despite their last game of Round 6 being on January 7, the day before the ODI squad is due to leave for India.

Turner confirmed on Twitter he expected to play for the Scorchers against Melbourne Renegades in Geelong, which will likely mean Kane Richardson and Aaron Finch will also be available.

The Scorchers are a team who represent significant value in SuperCoach BBL.

If you nail your trades this round, it will set you up for the next four rounds as Perth has another double game week in Round 9.

Ashton Agar scored 115 in his last outing and is due to play both Round 6 games before heading to India.

ROUND 6 TRADE TARGETS

Ashton Agar $126,000 BAT-BWL Avg: 44.8

The Australian spinner is on the rise after a score of 115 in his most recent outing against Brisbane Heat. His tournament had been underwhelming before he took 2-16 from four overs on New Year’s Day. That caused his price to jump by more than $15,000 and he’ll make another profit before heading to India at the end of Round 6. Be mindful that you’ll be trading him in and he won’t feature again until Perth hosts Adelaide on January 24.

Fawad Ahmed $145,200 BWL Avg: 62.8

Yet to score less than 38 this year, Ahmed has seven wickets and an economy rate of 7.1 after four rounds. The leg-spinner has posted scores of 76, 77 and 123 in his past three games.

Matt Kelly $149,600 BWL Avg: 51.7

The real point of difference pick of Perth’s pacemen. Kelly only scored 15 in Round 1 but has produced figures of 2-22 in his most recent outing against Brisbane Heat. Kelly only featured in 532 teams in Round 5.

Josh Inglis $144,800 WKP-BAT Avg: 51.8

The wicketkeeper-batsman has relished a move to the top of the order and has reached 22 in three of his five innings in BBL09. The only concern is he has only capitalised once on the dashing starts he has been giving Perth by scoring 50.

Chris Jordan $187,900 BWL Avg: 71.4

The English international is one of the classiest T20 bowlers in this summer’s Big Bash and it’ll be a risk going without him in a double. He was the top trade target when Perth last played twice in Round 3 and delivered with 127 points. He’s a dynamic fielder and more than capable with the bat too, offering other avenues for points.

Jhye Richardson $151,400 BWL Avg: 40.2

The quick made a slow start to the tournament with 0-37 and 0-41 but has taken four wickets in his past three matches. Richardson outscored Jordan by 10 points in Round 3 and then scored 51 in Round 4. If you want to save $36,500, he offers a POD compared to Jordan.

Cameron Bancroft $103,000 BAT-WKP Avg: 32.4

The former Test opener is batting at No. 3 for the Scorchers and it’s a bonus he’s available as a WKP-BAT. The $41,800 saving over teammate Josh Inglis is hard to ignore when Bancroft has made more runs in BBL09. He frustrated owners in the Round 3 double with 29 points but has scored 70 and 62 either side of those games.

Liam Livingstone $142,100 BAT-BWL Avg: 48.2

Hard to know what to expect from the Scorchers’ English import. His 141 against Adelaide in Round 3 was memorable but he backed that up by scoring two points against Sydney Sixers. In five games his scores have been 0, 44, 141, two and 54. It was interesting to note he bowled two overs and took a wicket against the Heat after not being used in the opening four matches.

Mitch Marsh $146,500 BAT-BWL Avg: 43.6

Available for more than $33,000 less than his starting price, the Scorchers skipper has been a consistent performer with three of his five scores between 25-38. His 106 came when he hammered 56 not out against Melbourne Renegades. There’s better options at his price considering he’s not bowling regularly and batting at No. 4 or No.5.

Ashton Turner $101,700 BAT Avg: 26.2

Surely it’s only a matter of time before Turner goes bananas. The Aussie T20 and ODI finisher is only averaging 16.6 runs with a strike rate of 113.7 which has caused his price to fall by $25,700. He should enjoy the short boundaries at Geelong when Perth takes on the Renegades.

Rashid Khan $214,600 BWL Avg: 79

If you traded Adelaide spin dynamo Rashid out for his Round 5 bye, you’ll want to find a way to get him back quickly. A straight swap with Kane Richardson would be an obvious move, but it will mean you’ll be down to two trades to use on Scorchers. It could be shrewd to wait until Round 8, when no side has a double, but you risk missing out on hundreds of points before then.
