There are 10 reasons every SuperCoach should watch South Africa’s Mzansi Super League.

The Twenty20 competition, which started on Friday, will provide a formline for 10 players with Big Bash League contracts for 2019-20.

Eight of those are international signings, while Melbourne Renegades all-rounder Dan Christian (Jozi Stars) and Melbourne Stars wicketkeeper-batsman Ben Dunk (Nelson Mandela Bay Giants) will feature.

Christian carried his form from last year’s Mzansi Super League into the BBL, playing a key role in Melbourne Renegades’ triumph.

The all-rounder, who has been a T20 journeyman in recent years, is a known commodity in the Big Bash League.

Dunk is also a familiar face who has enjoyed success in the BBL despite an indifferent run in recent summers since joining the Stars.

The South African tournament will also be valuable to SuperCoaches as it will provide an insight into two players BBL audiences will be largely unaware of.

Liam Livingstone, a hard-hitting, spin-bowling all-rounder from England, will play with Cape Town Blitz before joining Perth Scorchers.

The 26-year-old made 273 runs and took 14 wickets in this year’s Vitality Blast.

Although, it is his role which enhances his SuperCoach BBL appeal.

Livingstone opened the batting for Lancashire and was a regular wicket-taker.

Sydney Thunder signing Chris Morris is the other all-rounder SuperCoaches should get to know.

At $125,000, Morris has a double game week in Round 1 and will bring more than 180 games of T20 experience to the BBL.

He averages a wicket and 22 runs a game during a long career which also included four Test matches.

Tom Curran (Sydney Sixers), Dale Steyn (Melbourne Stars), Alex Hales (Sydney Thunder), James Vince (Sydney Sixers) and AB De Villiers (Brisbane Heat) are the other BBL-contracted players who will feature in South Africa.

It is also worth keeping an eye on former South African Test quick Morne Morkel.

He played recently in NSW grade cricket to tune up for the Msanzi Super League and has been linked with several BBL franchises.
