The Brisbane Heat head into tonight’s clash with the Sydney Sixers on the edge of the final five after their disastrous collapse to the Renegades on the weekend.

The batting failure – losing 10 wickets for 36 runs after an 84-run opening partnership – means the match with the Sixers is almost must-win.

How many games do the Heat have left?

Including this match, the Heat have just three matches to go in the Big Bash season. After tonight’s game they play the Stars (1st on the table) in Melbourne on January 25 (shown exclusively on Kayo), then finish the season against the Renegades (last on the table) in Melbourne on January 27.

Why is this match important?

The Heat currently sit sixth on the table and only the final five make it through to the finals. The good news is that the Heat have played one less match than every other team (and two fewer than the Stars), meaning a victory tonight puts them in a reasonable position. Lose, and they sit on equal points with the Thunder, who have a superior net run rate.
