Chris Rogers - 9
The ageless marvel set the tone for the match with his first innings 173. Looked as comfortable as if he was playing in his own backyard, which essentially he was.
David Warner - 6.5
A reckless first innings swipe which cost him his wicket prompted raucous Twitter backlash, but his second innings 83 should point him to brighter days.
Steve Smith - 10
Can anyone stop this man? His current form surge is making other people’s purple patches look like fading lilac. His epic 215 was the first Australian double century at the home of cricket since 1938.
Michael Clarke - 5.5
His best work here was a captain who regrooved and refocused a group suddenly without three of its old stagers. Struggling to be what he was as a batsman and looked out of sorts in his first innings seven.
Adam Voges - 4
Just drifting. His first innings 25 probably summed up where he is at the moment. Flying under the radar in victory and defeat. Australia is likely to need more from him in the run home.
Mitchell Marsh - 7.5
Starting to mature. Failed in the first innings with the bat but his two first innings wickets - Stokes and Cook - were priceless and genuinely earned by a player whose height maximises the impact of variable bounce. May have slammed the door on Shane Watson’s career.
Peter Nevill - 7.5
From the moment he took his first catch with the second ball of the first innings he looked composed and confident. His first innings 45 also confirmed his rating as a batsman of note. Has given the selectors a most awkward question to ponder when Brad Haddin returns from compassionate leave.
Mitchell Johnson - 8
Conjured life and bounce from a dead strip and was back to his best, leaving England to face the ghouls of their tortured past as he pocketed six wickets from the match. Outstanding.
Mitchell Starc - 6
With just one first innings wicket, it just wasn’t really his match, though did well to play after his injury in the first Test. Seemed to battle a back complaint so the break before the next Test should do him good.
Nathan Lyon - 6.5
Did what he always seems to do - chipping in the with the occasional important wicket without stealing a headline. Took three for for the match and shapes as a crucial man in the last three Tests.
Josh Hazlewood - 7.5
His match figures of 5-88 said much of his maturity and dependability as he ground out a classy final analysis on a deck which left other men of his trade exasperated. Shapes as a long term anchorman.
