THE Gold Coast Commonwealth Games boss says anyone expecting perfect public transport during the event is ‘a lunatic’.
Mark Peters was speaking after thousands of angry spectators heading to last night’s opening ceremony at Carrara Stadium were left stranded at Broadbeach by a lack of buses.
As Transport Minister Mark Bailey apologised for the debacle, Mr Peters admitted more public transport delays during the Games were inevitable.
“If anyone thinks we’re going to be perfect, then you’re a lunatic,” he said.
“When you plan, you plan to be successful ... (but) there will be delays.”
Mr Bailey refused to rule out more chaos but said ‘adjustments’ had been made to bus scheduling.
