CARLTON chief executive Steven Trigg says it’s “very, very unlikely” the Blues would part with their first-round draft pick for wantaway Gold Coast Suns phenom Jaeger O’Meara.
O’Meara, 22, has been linked to several clubs including Carlton, Hawthorn and St Kilda since telling the Suns of his intentions to continue his career in Melbourne.
Trigg said the Blues are “interested” in O’Meara, but strongly denied club officials have met with him personally.

“We have not (met with O’Meara), but we’re interested obviously because he’s an elite young player,” Trigg said.
“But there’s some complications there, that everyone knows about, in terms of his knee and his fitness, and what risk that represents ... what’s the cost and benefit of it?
“Would we (trade first-round draft pick)? I think it would be very very unlikely that we would give up (currently pick five) it would have to be something pretty remarkable for us to move that.”
Trigg confirmed Blues’ list manager Stephen Silvagni made inquiries midyear with O’Meara’s management.
“We’re not really clear about what it’s going to take to get the transaction done, what he wants, how we could possibly facilitate it,” Trigg told SEN.
“All I’m saying at the moment is if we land with pick five our plan has been to go to the draft and if we can find something pretty special at pick five, and develop it over the next few years, that’s the path that we’re on, it’s as simple as that really.”
