Broncos Live: Training news and analysis ahead of Finals Week 1 clash against Roosters

JOSH McGuire is confident the Broncos can get the job done against the Roosters without skipper Darius Boyd.
The Broncos had their second training session this morning ahead of their first finals clash on Friday night. NRMA Insurance promo Boyd (hamstring) was absent from the training run, with Kodi Nikorima training at fullback and Benji Marshall at halfback. While the loss of Boyd is no doubt a blow for Brisbane, McGuire said today the team were still confident they could win even without their star No.1. “We’ve had a backline reshuffle nearly every second week at this club,” he said. “Anyone that gets the opportunity to play football here takes it with both hands. “It’s the responsibility that comes with wearing the Brisbane Broncos jersey. To get the opportunity, you have to perform, and if you don’t perform you don’t get that opportunity again.” Tevita Pangai Jr (hamstring) was also missing from the session and is not expected to play on Friday. Jai Arrow is his most likely replacement on the bench while David Mead also trained with the first grade team, indicating he could come into the 17. Coach Wayne Bennett will name his team this afternoon. League writer Rikki-Lee Arnold was at Red Hill for Tuesday’s training session to catch all the latest news, injury reports and expert analysis.
