Growth of NRLW booming in more places than one

Broncos NRLW co-captain Ali Brigginshaw emerged from Sunday’s titanic 40-8 triumph over Canberra Raiders almost unrecognisable, sporting significant facial swelling and bruising from a suspected broken nose.

The injury was a result of a severe head clash during the game at Langlands Park.

The team’s lead player was forced off the field in the 62nd minute after the knock was categorised as a Category two concussion.

Though Brigginshaw passed the initial head injury assessment, the aftermath was evident: a significantly swollen and heavily bruised face that left many startled.

Fans and supporters received a first-hand view of Brigginshaw’s condition when her wife, Kate Daly, shared updates and graphic photos on Instagram.

“I’ve truly never seen anything like it,” Daly expressed her astonishment, displaying a photo of a visibly battered Brigginshaw.

Thankfully, she was quick to reassure fans, saying, “Ps Ali is in very good spirits guys, can breathe totally fine, just really horrendous bruising and swelling.”

Brigginshaw will undergo a second head injury assessment in 48 hours, in line with HIA protocols.

With the sixth-placed Cronulla showdown looming next Saturday, all eyes are on the Broncos’ inspirational leader to see if she overcomes her nose injury in time.

Adding to her already towering reputation for grit and determination, Brigginshaw displayed her unwavering commitment to fans post-game.

Even with the evident aftermath of the injury and gauze hanging from her nose, she took the time to sign autographs for young fans.

Daly captioned the heartfelt scene on Instagram, “Busted nose – but still got time for the fans.”
