Many of the Brisbane Broncos are soaking up the sun and trading tackles for tans as they embark on topical island getaways during the off-season.
Despite a crushing Grand Final defeat, players including superstars Ezra Mam and Reece Walsh have found solace and rejuvenation in a variety of exotic locations.
Ezra Mam has been seen relishing his well-deserved off-season break in Bali, sharing moments from his tropical adventures to legions of fans on social media.
From relaxing poolside and taking in the sights to embarking on a boat ride, Mam seems to be making the most of his holiday.
But Mam isn’t the only Bronco making waves in Bali.
Joining him are teammates Selwyn Cobbo, Deine Mariner and their partners Ruby Peyroux and Grace Kama.
The Broncos trio, along with former Bronco now Bulldogs player Ethan Quai-Ward, were seen embarking on a snorkelling trip, and what looked to be a waterfall hike.
They’ve also found time for a cheeky Bintang beer or two.
Reece Walsh and Brendan Piakura, have been seen holidaying in the Cook Islands, taking on challenging hikes and diving with turtles.
Piakura’s connection to the Cook Islands runs deep, as he represents the Cook Islands internationally in rugby league when he isn’t donning the Broncos’ jersey.
Newlyweds Billy Walters and Rachel Ownsworth also opted for a tropical getaway for their destination wedding in Fiji this week, attended by friends and family.
However, not all Broncos chose the tranquillity of island paradises, with two other team members getting a feel for the American sports scene.
Jesse Arthars and Kurt Capewell, have been soaking up the culture and excitement of the United States, attending an LA Rams versus Pittsburgh Steelers NFL game at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
The pair posted a video of themselves sporting LA Rams jerseys, promoting the NRL’s US debut in the new year.
This comes ahead of the groundbreaking decision to kick off the next NRL Premiership season in Las Vegas, where the Sea Eagles will take on the Rabbitohs, and the Roosters will go head-to-head with the Broncos at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on March 2, 2024.
For now, though, it seems the boys are content to leave behind the pressures of the game and simply enjoy some downtime.
