Jeff Horn attacked on social media in wake of upset win over Manny Pacquiao in world title fight

WORLD boxing champion Jeff Horn has been targeted in a number of vile social media posts after his controversial upset win over Manny Pacquiao.

FURIOUS fans of Manny Pacquiao have taken to social media to attack Jeff Horn, and his wife Joanna, in the wake of the Australian boxer’s defeat of the Philippine legend.

Horn stunned the boxing world with a unanimous points win in their fight at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.

But the win did not come without controversy, with Pacquiao’s trainer Freddy Roach calling for an investigation into the scoring of the fight.

And Pacquiao’s legion of fans were not impressed with the decision after 12 brutal rounds either, and have taken to social media to viciously attack Horn.

Horn’s official Facebook page and Instagram account have been targeted.

“You are a cheater fighter,” one person wrote.

“Don’t ever come to the Philippines.”

Another wrote: “You are a teacher and it is obvious you cheated.”

One Instagram used posted: “The most stupid decision in boxing, just look at your face, it looks stupid like the decision.

A number of the comments are very vile and offensive.

One even suggested Joanna “needed a treadmill”.

Of over 7,000 comments on his Facebook page, one Horn supporter estimated almost 2,000 were posts attacking Horn.

Horn had often spoke of the tremendous support his wife afforded him in the lead up to the fight.

After claiming Pacquiao’s WBO welterweight belt, Horn said: “This is not the best moment of my life, that moment is yet to come with my beautiful wife Joanna, she’s pregnant and having our first child”.

‘Thanks for your love and support.’

Despite his trainer’s protests Pacquiao said he accepted the decision.

“He was very tough. It’s OK. It’s part of the game,” he said.
