Australia’s world-beating bantamweight Jason Moloney says he has been inspired by his twin brother’s enormous courage to put on a ``career best’’ performance at the Seagulls Club in Tweed Heads on Saturday night against Filipino Cris Paulino.

Moloney, 28, is having his first fight since dropping a controversial split decision in his world title bout with Puerto Rican Emmanuel Rodriguez in October and is motivated to fight for another world championship as soon as possible.

Twin brother Andrew Moloney, a 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, roared back for a dramatic KO of world No.2 super-flyweight Miguel Gonzalez in Chile last weekend, overcoming a points deficit to earn a shot at the world champ in his division, Kal Yafai of England.

“Andrew winning in the dramatic style that he did in Chile was amazing and if anything is pushing me on,’’ said Jason who also became the father to baby daughter Isla this month.

``We have top fighters in our gym such as Billel Dib who is in a good fight on the same card (against Filipino Rey Juntilla) so I’ve maintained my focus prior to the fight and I’m looking forward to putting on a career-best performance at the Seagulls Club.”

Moloney said his preparations had ``gone great’’

``It was really a continuation of training for me as I was right back in the gym after the Rodriguez fight.

``Myself and many others felt I won the fight against Rodriguez and I’d love to fight him again.

``The dream is to be world champion, and the dream for our family would be for Andrew and me to be world champions in 2019. I think that would be massive for Australia.

``I need to win and win well against Cris Paulino to make sure that I stay on the right path towards that goal of being world champion.”

Also on Saturday night, rising Queensland welterweight Ben Kite is ready to launch himself into a firefight with Jeff Horn’s sparring partner Mick Whitehead for the Australasian championship at Brisbane’s Fortitude Stadium.

Kite has won eight fights in a row since dropping a controversial decision to India’s world-rated Neeraj Goyat in New Delhi two years ago and is aiming to maintain the momentum in what shapes as a welterweight thriller.

Whitehead has sparred dozens of rounds with former world champ Horn and has recently been working with Dennis Hogan in the Irish-born battler’s preparations to upset Mexico’s world junior-middleweight champ Jaime Munguia in Monterey on April 14.
