Hogan said he and Rushton had closely studied Charlo’s biggest wins and had formulated ``a great game plan’’ based around high work rate and power shots.

``We’ve watched Charlo and we have found some good stuff there,’’ Hogan said, ``and I’ve been executing that beautifully.’’

While Rushton has been in New York with Hogan for the last week, his other star fighter, former world welterweight champ, Jeff Horn has been sparring in Brisbane under the supervision of fitness guru Dundee Kim.

Hogan said the rise in weight from to the middleweight limit of 72.3kg from his usual weight of 70kg meant he had gained extra punching power because of increased carbohydrates in his diet.

``I have more back muscle, leg muscle and I can feel the power,’’ her said. ``It’s an extra 10 to 15 per cent snap on my punches. I’ve worked so hard to get to this point – I’m proud of the levels I’ve reached in training and how hard I’ve pushed to be world champion.’’

Charlo is unbeaten in 29 fights with 21 KOs. Hogan has 28 wins and a draw in 31 pro fights, with his only defeats on points in world title bouts.
