George Kambosos armed with receipts that prove Devin Haney ‘snitched’ on rival

George Kambosos has pulled more receipts that question Devin Haney’s character after footage of the American using racially-charged comments resurfaced.

Devin Haney sparks racism row

George Kambosos has launched a stinging attack on Devin Haney for making outrageous claims that he will never lose to a “white boy” during his career as a racial storm broke out in the lead-up to Sunday’s world-title blockbuster in Melbourne.

The high-stakes unification bout at Marvel Stadium has taken on an explosive edge after Kambosos condemned racial comments from Haney, who has stated he will “never lose to a white boy” during his professional career.

Haney, an African-American, made the comment in April 2020 when it was proposed he fight Ukraine superstar Vasiliy Lomachenko, who was due to face Kambosos before withdrawing to serve his country against the Russian invasion.

Pressed on whether Lomachenko was a threat to him, WBC champion Haney added: “Listen, can’t (sic) no white boy beat me. I don’t care, on any day of the week.

“I fight a white boy like 10 times, I’m gonna beat him 10 times.”

Haney’s comments triggered outrage from the boxing world, prompting a hasty apology from the besieged American.

But Haney’s racially-offensive remark went down like a lead balloon with Kambosos, who said the 23-year-old should be ashamed and called on 50,000 Australians to turn ‘The Dream’s’ day out at Marvel into a nightmare.

“I have been made aware of those racial comments he made and to suggest he would never lose to a white man just sums up the type of person he is,” Kambosos said.

“It’s below the belt.

“It’s disrespectful to humanity, to all Australians and to white people around the world.

“One thing about me, I can talk the talk, but I am always respectful of people regardless of race, religion, colour or creed.

“I have some African-American friends and they are among the most beautiful people in the world.

“If he wants to bring race into it, that’s on him and he has to look at himself in the mirror and take responsibility for what he said and live with it.

“If he thinks no white man will beat him, well I am going to punch his head in on Sunday and maybe then he will get an appreciation for my ability.”

Haney delivered the comments on 78SPORTSTV, a YouTube channel with more than 80,000 subscribers.

As he spoke via video link, Haney’s tagline during the interview, which included his father and trainer Bill, was “BlackJesus777”.

Twenty fours after his “white boy” comment, Haney expressed his deep remorse and insisted he was not racist, saying: “I have learned a valuable lesson. I will continue to show the kind of person that I really am, and will continue my quest for greatness inside and outside the ring.”

Kambosos then shed more light on his stunning claim that Haney “ratted” on Teofimo Lopez by leaking information on his countryman before Lopez’s world-title loss to the Australian last November.

“I have proof that he was a snitch. He backstabbed Lopez,” Kambosos said.

“Haney first contacted me about five weeks out from my fight (against Lopez).

“He made the first move, I remember seeing my phone. I got a text and he says it’s Devin Haney, I’ve got some information on Teofimo Lopez that can help you.

“I was like, ‘Wow’.

“He was saying stuff like Lopez wasn’t preparing well, that he was smoking at hookah lounges and he was having relationship problems with his wife.

“I couldn’t believe what a low act it was, but that sums up Haney. At the same time, I was about to fight Lopez, so any inside information I could get on my upcoming opponent, of course you are going to take it.

“I think Haney was hoping I would beat Lopez because down deep he knew he wouldn’t beat Lopez.

“Haney probably thought he was a chance (of beating) me, but I will show him on Sunday.”
