Shot clock: Quickfire guide to setting up your SuperCoach NBL team for round 4

One player should be at the top of the shopping list for your SuperCoach NBL team this week. See the moves to make to get your team firing for round 4 in minutes.

We’re three rounds in and the SuperCoach NBL season is starting to take shape.

Five teams on the double in round 3 led to some big scores – although some weren’t as high as owners would have hoped for.

Next round two of those sides back up with another double, so if there’s a star you missed this week (hello, Kendric Davis!), it’s not too late.

Here’s a quickfire guide to everything you need to know.

ON THE DOUBLE

The schedule is the key to SuperCoach NBL success. Targeting players from teams that play twice in a round will give you twice as many opportunities to score points.

In round 4 there are three teams on the double. Adelaide 36ers and Cairns Taipans back up from their round 3 doubles by playing twice again, along with the Sydney Kings.

After successive doubles Melbourne United has singles for the next two rounds, while Perth Wildcats don’t have another double until round 7. Players from both teams can be traded out with the exception of cash cows like Ben Henshall and United star Jack White, who still have more cash to make – and White can score well enough on a single to consider starting.

Tasmania JackJumpers have a single next round but are one of just two teams on the double in round 5 (along with NZ Breakers), so hang on to stars like Will Magnay and Milton Doyle this week if you can.

The Breakers are on a bye again but will return with three straight doubles, so get ready to pounce next week.

Make Taipans young gun Armstrong a priority this week. After a delayed start to the season he scored 58 in the Taipans’ double and is due for a big price rise after next round – another Cairns double. Teammate Kyrin Galloway’s price jumped by $38,500 after round 3 but he is still affordable at $185k – great value if he can repeat his 53 points from this round. Kings forward Keli Leaupepe is even cheaper at $117k.

CAPTAIN CALL

After huge round 3 performances Xavier Cooks (48 points on a single)and Kendric Davis (88 on a double)will be popular captain picks, with both players on the double in round 4.

Cooks has scored 38, 34, 43 and 48 in his four games and is a safe bet – if you can find the cash to bring him in.
