The NFL Combine has again come under the spotlight for

NFL teams have been slammed for asking the next generation of stars highly inappropriate questions during the league’s Combine.

EVERY YEAR college football’s biggest and best players put their skills on the line during the NFL’s combine.

They showcase their agility, hands and pure strength in a number of tests that are not only watched by every team and their scouts, but by the fans as well.

Unfortunately, it’s not any of the physical assets of the players that has raised eyebrows.

Teams have again come under fire for the interviews they’re hosting with players and the obscure and inappropriate questions being asked.

There are questions that are just genuinely silly, such as the one Marcus Davenport received.

Davenport, an edge rusher, was asked “If you were a fruit, what kind would you be?”.

Questions like this are perfectly harmless and can keep players on their toes or liven up a dull interview, but one question continues to be asked despite previous warnings from the league.

In an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio, LSU Tigers running back Derrius Guice said a team asked him, “do I like men?”

Sadly, that wasn’t as bad as it got for Guice.

“They’d try to bring up one of my family members or somebody and tell me, ‘Hey, man, I heard your mom sells herself. How do you feel about that?’” Guice said.

Only two years ago cornerback Eli Apple faced the same inappropriate question Guice faced in relation to his sexual orientation.

After the question was brought to light, the NFL launched an investigation into the matter and found it to be an Atlanta Falcons assistant coach who asked the young player the insensitive question.

While no sanctions or penalties came from the investigation, the NFL did state it was “disappointing and clearly inappropriate”.

As of yet it has not been revealed which team the question came from, but after launching an investigation into a similar matter two years ago, many were calling for the league to do the same but take things a step further and hand down severe sanctions to the team.

The league has previously dubbed these questions impermissible and said that persons caught asking such questions would face discipline, whether that action will be taken remains to be seen.

“It is league policy to neither consider nor inquire about sexual orientation in the hiring process,” the NFL said in a statement in 2013.

“In addition, there are specific protections in our collective bargaining agreement with the players that prohibit discrimination against any player, including on the basis of sexual orientation.”

While fans have called for the league to show a tougher front to combat these types of questions being asked, Pro Football Talk writer Mike Florio has called for the interviews to be recorded.

“If teams can’t be trusted to not ask inappropriate questions, the NFL should require all teams to record all interactions between all teams and all prospects,” Florio wrote.

Guice is projected to be selected in the first two rounds of the upcoming NFL draft and believe it or not, his sexual orientation has absolutely zero impact on his abilities playing the game.
