Aussie NFL stars Jordan Mailata and Tory Taylor face off in global NFL first
Australian sports fans will have been given a Black Friday present after major NFL world-first will see two Aussies stars go head-to-head.
Aussie NFL fans will be waking up early this weekend to catch the Philadelphia Eagles and the Chicago Bears as the sides go head-to-head on Saturday morning — and the best part is it’ll be free.
Two of Australia’s best sports exports will be facing off for the match: Jordan Mailata and Tory Taylor.
The former is a well-loved member of the NFL, who helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl earlier this year and is one of Australia’s highest paid athletes on a three-year $A100m deal.
While he’s been a player for the Eagles across three Super Bowls now, Mailata was on injured reserve for the 2018 season, when the team won against the New England Patriots.
They lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023, but came back to win Super Bowl LIX earlier this year against the same team.
This made Mailata the first Australian player to play in and win a Super Bowl.
Meanwhile, Taylor is a rookie punter with a fantastic kick, who is earning his place as a fan favourite for the Chicago Bears.
While their positions in the team mean it’ll be almost impossible for the pair to meet on the field, watching two of our own in a free streaming event will be worth the early wake up.
And it’ll be 100 per cent free after Amazon announced Prime Video would broadcast the Black Friday Footbal game globally.
It’s the first game the Prime Video will broadcast globally and will be available in over 240 countries free of charge.
How to watch the game
The game will be streamed globally on Amazon Prime Video.
But you don’t need a subscription or an Amazon Prime membership to watch the game, just a login for the streaming service which doesn’t require you to sign up or put down a credit card.
For NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and the ACT, it’ll kick off at 7am tomorrow morning.
For Queensland and the NT, start time is 6am.
South Australia can see it at 6:30am, while WA will have to set an early alarm – 4am.
Who is likely to win?
The Eagles are currently tipped to win the match, with a 4-0 record against Chicago across their last four match-ups.
Across these four match-ups, Philadelphia has scored a total of 94 points, and surrendered only 52.
The Eagles are also favourites to play the Super Bowl again next year, coming in just behind the Los Angeles Rams, who are the only two-loss team in the NFL.
But both teams are 8-3 and leading their divisions so if the Bears are ever going to spring the upset, tomorrow seems like as good a day as any.
