Kendrick Lamar has been named the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show.

The news was announced by the NFL, Roc Nation and Apple Music.

Lamar, 37, confirmed the announcement on Instagram as well.

“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one,” the rapper said in a statement, according to Billboard.

The 2025 Super Bowl will take place February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

The halftime show is sponsored by Apple Music and produced by JAY-Z’s entertainment company Roc Nation.

“Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer,” JAY-Z, 54, said in a statement.

“His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”

“Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar,” Seth Dudowsky, NFL’s head of music, said in a statement.

“We’re excited to collaborate with Kendrick, Roc Nation and Apple Music to deliver another unforgettable Halftime Show.”

Lamar previously performed during the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show.

The 17-time Grammy Award winner was apart of the star-studded hip-hop mashup that also included Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and Mary J. Blige.

While Lamar hasn’t released a new album since 2022’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, he did have a big year in music thanks to his infamous rap battle with Drake.

Lamar’s diss track, Not Like Us, was one of the biggest songs of 2024. It spent two non-consecutive weeks atop the US Billboard Hot 100.

The music video to the song was released on the 4th of July. It has over 127 million views on YouTube.

Lamar follows Usher, who headlined the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show.

Usher, 45, sang some of his greatest hits including Yeah!, Love in This Club and My Boo.

He was joined by special guests Alicia Keys, will.i.am, Lil Jon, Ludacris and H.E.R.

Rihanna, 36, headlined the 2023 halftime show. She announced she was pregnant with her second child during her performance.
