NEW York Jets quarterback Geno Smith has been ruled out for the remainder of the NFL season with a knee injury.

Coach Todd Bowles said on Monday that an MRI showed an ACL tear. Smith suffered the injury during Sunday’s 24-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens when he twisted the knee on a second-quarter sack.

Laurie Horesh, Melanie Dinjaski and Patrick Stack are joined by Aussie Denver Broncos defensive lineman Adam Gotsis, and recover from Week 7’s unbelievable overtime mayhem, celebrate the rise of the Chargers, and ask is Miami’s record-breaker Jay Ajayi for real?

NFL WRAP: WEEK 7 NEWS AND RESULTS

Making his first start since December 2014, Smith completed four of eight passes for 95 yards and a touchdown before leaving.

As a result of the injury, the Jets will return to Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starting quarterback.

Meanwhile, four-time Pro Bowl running back Arian Foster has announced his retirement midway through an injury-plagued NFL season with the Miami Dolphins. Foster, 30, tried to come back from a torn Achilles tendon, but was slowed this season by groin and hamstring injuries. The retirement is effective immediately.

Foster signed a one-year contract with the Dolphins in July after seven years with the Houston Texans.

He holds the Texans’ franchise record with 6472 yards rushing. This season he rushed for 55 yards in 22 carries.

Meanwhile, Jay Cutler will start at quarterback for the Chicago Bears when they host the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 31 after healing from a sprained thumb. Back-up Brian Hoyer suffered a broken left arm playing against the Green Bay Packers in the Bears’ 26-10 loss on Thursday and had surgery on the weekend.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant remains on track to make his return to the side after missing the past three games with a hairline fracture in his right knee.

Bryant, who has not played since injuring the knee against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 25, is expected to return to action on Sunday night when the Cowboys (5-1) face the Philadelphia Eagles (4-2).
