LeBron James is proving age truly is just a number as the NBA megastar etches his name into the record books.
James, 38, did everything within his powers on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Clippers but it was his cross-town rivals who took the points with a 133-115 victory.

The 38-year-old played the lone role for the Los Angeles Lakers as he finished with a mind-boggling statline of 46 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
In what was a career-night, James knocked down nine three-pointers for the first time in his historic career.
But it was his scoring outburst that saw him enter the NBA records books as he becomes the first player in the history of the game to record a 40-point outing against all 30 franchises.
It also became his third game scoring more than 45-points since turning 38-years-old, equalling Michael Jordan’s record.
The man known as “The King” threw everything in his arsenal at the Clippers, but it wasn’t to be with far too many passengers on the Lakers squad.
For the Clippers they continue to rebound after a slow start to the season with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard leading the charge with 27 and 25 points respectively.
Nobody age 35 or older had ever made 9 3's in a game.

James now sits only 178 points behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record. A feat he’s expected to surpass in the coming weeks.
Despite his herculean efforts, the Lakers are sitting third last in the Western Conference and currently out of playoff contention.
They’ll be boosted by the return of star big man Anthony Davis for their next contest, one James is expected to miss.
Davis has missed the past five and a half weeks of action, his return to the line-up will prove invaluable to the struggling organisation.
Even though Wednesday’s game ended in a double-digit defeat, fans couldn’t believe what they’d seen from James.
LeBron the greatest weâve ever seen itâs really not worth debating anymore.
