On Monday morning against the New York Knicks, Giddey was at his electric best as he torched the Knicks with a 24 point, 10 rebound, 12 assist triple double.

Now Giddey is no stranger to registering triple-doubles, but his efforts on Monday came in only his second game at the famous Madison Square Garden.

Alongside Chamberlain he becomes only the second player in league history to record triple-doubles in their first two games at the venue.

Giddey put the league on notice during his rookie season when he stuffed the stat sheet with a 28 point, 11 rebound and 12 assist game against the Knicks.

His dazzling display on Monday helped the Oklahoma City Thunder capture a 145-135 victory to take the Thunder to 6-7 on the season.

His insane feat comes only days after he sent the NBA world into meltdown with his out of this world passing.

It’s Giddey’s first triple-double of the season and fifth overall in his short NBA career, sitting him third overall in Thunder triple-doubles behind Kevin Durant (7).

The outing at the Garden was comfortably his best outing of the season which has been plagued by an ankle injury.

“We come here once a year, so you got to have fun while we’re here and luckily in my time we’ve had two wins, so it’s been going good so far,” Giddey said postgame.

“It’s a fun place to play, obviously the most famous arena in the world so I have this arena circled on my calendar and can’t wait to come back next year.”

When Giddey was told he had joined Chamberlain as the only two players to achieve the rare feat he chose to focus on the team instead.

“Any time your name is within company like that, one of the all-time greats, it’s special,” Giddey said postgame.

“But basketball’s a team game, so if those things contribute to winning and helping my guys around me get better then it makes it worth it.

“Anytime you can be mentioned with greats like that it’s special.”

After a slow start to the season Giddey has picked things up over his past three games, averaging 19 points, 11.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists.

“The floaters haven’t been dropping for me this year, so just trying to get into the paint, staying confident with my shot and just reading what the defence is giving me,” Giddey said.

“I’ve started to realise I’m usually a bit bigger than a lot of these guys guarding me, so trying to finish over the top of them and being stronger with the ball.

“Things I’ve been working on at practice and trying to emulate that in a game, but it felt good out there.”
