Sorry can be the hardest word to say, but it’s slightly easier when you’re on the way to a second flag in three years.
Richmond superstar Dustin Martin sought out cult AFL umpire “Razor” Ray Chamberlain to apologise for swearing at him during the big win over GWS at the MCG.
Chamberlain punished Martin for holding the ball late in the third quarter. Dusty wasn’t happy, responding “for f---’s sake, Razor’.
Chamberlain responded by penalising him a further 50 metres for abuse.
But no grudges were to be held as Martin found Razor at the start of the final quarter, when Richmond led by 62 points.
“I do recall at the start of the last quarter Dusty came into the centre bounce and I was starting the last quarter,” Chamberlain said on SEN’s Whateley.
“We shared a hug and he goes, ‘I’m real sorry, I just got angry’.
“And I said, ‘That’s OK, I do that too sometimes. That’s normal, isn’t it?’.
“They’re competing and it’s the big stage and it’s for a premiership and you expect them to be invested and that is totally OK.”
