GWS stars Jeremy Cameron, Shane Mumford ruled out of the rest of the finals series with a hamstring injury

GWS has suffered a second serious injury blow in a matter of hours with news ruckman Shane Mumford will join Jeremy Cameron on the sidelines for the rest of the finals.

GWS HAS been dealt two major blows ahead of its knockout semi-final against West Coast with stars Jeremy Cameron and Shane Mumford ruled out for the rest of the season.

Cameron injured his hamstring in the loss to Adelaide on Thursday night.

Scans have revealed damage to the tendon in the left hamstring.

The Giants confirmed the news in a statement today.

“Forward Jeremy Cameron has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury,” the statement reads.

“Cameron tore his left hamstring in the second quarter of the loss to the Crows last week, sitting on the sidelines for the second half of the match.

“Cameron had trouble with his opposite hamstring late in the season, restricting him to 19 games for 2017. He kicked 45 goals.”

Cameron has had hamstring issues in the past but this injury is to the opposite leg.

There was more bad news for the Giants just hours later with confirmation Mumford fractured his foot against the Crows.

“Shane reported some soreness in his foot the day after the game and upon further investigation it was revealed he’d suffered a fracture,” Giants head of athletic performance David Joyce said.

“Having consulted a specialist on Monday, the decision has been made to rule him out for the rest of the season.

“This is disappointing news for Shane but he’ll no doubt put this aside to help his team mates prepare the best they can.”
