WA Police Commissioner Chris Dawson has confirmed police are no longer investigating three Fremantle Dockers players for potentially breaching coronavirus restrictions by attending a house party.

A video clip shared on Instagram by a woman at the alleged gathering on Sunday panned around a lounge room in a Perth home, showing Dockers players Luke Ryan and Michael Frederick sitting on a couch drinking beers with four friends while Jason Carter plays music from a DJ set up.

Mr Dawson said he had spoken to Fremantle chief executive Simon Garlick this morning to inform him police will not be dealing with the matter any further.

The recording was allegedly taken before WA’s social distancing restrictions which limited gatherings to two people were relaxed to allow for groups of 10 to socialise.

Yesterday Health Minister Roger Cook said the rules on social distancing were taken “very seriously because people’s decision to flout them can be deadly”.

“This underpins the importance that this is a community effort. If people flout the rules and regulations, if they don’t have the social distancing and personal hygiene, we will have to fall back to a position where we could place further restrictions,” he said.
