COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley says the Magpies have spoken with the management of banned Bomber Michael Hurley and see themselves as being “in the mix” to sign him.

Buckley said the Magpies would welcome any player of Hurley’s calibre to the club.

“We have spoken to his manager and his management,” Buckley said.

BIG RESULT: WIN SELLING FUTURE TO BANNED BOMBERS

WHAT NEXT: ‘ESSENDON FIVE’ FACE BIG DECISIONS

“Anytime an A-grade talent wants to look elsewhere than his footy club then we will be in the mix.”

Coming up with a trade for Hurley appears problematic for the Magpies who traded away their first round pick in this year’s National Draft as part of the Adam Treloar deal.

However, Buckley doesn’t see that as an issue.

“There is always a way,” he said on AFL 360.

Hurley is one of five banned Bombers who are yet to decide on their future for next season.

The Western Bulldogs and St Kilda have also declared their interest in the gun centre-half-back.

Hurley has been travelling around Europe during his one year suspension.

More to come.
