It’s been a decade since the Brisbane Lions hosted a final at the Gabba, so you can be forgiven for not remembering how to get your hands on a ticket.

With the Lions hosting Victorian powerhouse Richmond in the Saturday night qualifying final, you can be guaranteed that the game will be a sellout, so you’d best get in early.

Here’s your guide on how to get a ticket.

Can I just walk in with my Lions membership?

No. All eligible members will need to pre-purchase their tickets through Ticketek or Ticketmaster. Members will receive an email prior to the finals explaining when they can buy these tickets.

Do I need to be a Lions or Tigers member?

No, but it’s more difficult to get a ticket if you’re not. Club members have priority access to tickets and general public seats only go on sale once the member pre-sale is over. That could mean there’s only a few thousand seats available to the regular punter once the members get their share.

Which Lions members have priority?

There are two different priority groups of Lions members.

Members with first access to tickets hold one of the following memberships: Season reserved seat, season generel admission, traditional Victorian, interstate supporter (non-QLD or VIC), Victorian plus, Coaches Club, or cheer squad.

Members with secondary access to tickets hold one of the following memberships: 3-game reserved seat, 3-game general admission, Flexi11, global Lion, interstate virtual Lion (non-QLD or VIC), ultimate weekender, and verandah 3-game.

All tickets left over after Lions and Tigers members get their fill go on public sale.

Where will my seats be?

If you are used to having the same seat every week you’re going to be disappointed. Each club is allocated different bays, usually alternating, so it is mostly luck of the draw.

Do I need to purchase tickets for my children?

Kids aged between 4 and 14 are eligible for a junior ticket. Kids under the age of 3 as of January 1, 2019, can enter the ground at no charge but must not occupy a seat.

When will tickets be released?

The AFL and clubs will send out emails to all members to let them know when they can purchase tickets, giving them first priority over the general public.
