Brisbane have sold-out the Gabba for the second time this season after a final release of 800 tickets this morning were snapped up within an hour.
The Lions other sell-out was the Easter Thursday blockbuster against Collingwood.
The last clash between the Lions and Geelong at the Gabba in 2017 drew only 18,769 while the biggest crowd between the two sides in Brisbane was the 34,274 that turned up in Round 15, 2009 – the last year Brisbane played finals.
The turn out of Gabba and BCC members this weekend will determine if the crowd eclipses the 34, 017 that watched the Pies’ defeat the Lions in round 5.
CEO Greg Swann confirmed this afternoon there were no more tickets available.
“This is a great testament to the way we are playing and our Club has been rewarded with crowds flocking back to the Gabba,’’ he said.
“We can’t wait for the noise our fans will bring.”
The sellout comes after it was revealed one fanatical Cats fan booked flights to Brisbane for the game before securing a ticket.
Upon learning no general admission was available, the Geelong supporter signed up to become a Lions member to secure a seat.
The supporter then made sure that the Lions knew that should Geelong stumble in the finals, he was very much on the Brisbane bandwagon.
