THOUGHT Daniel Wells was a great pick and Stef Martin drove you crazy? Champion Data stats reveal the biggest SuperCoach successes and failures of 2016. WHO DID YOU PICK?

DANIEL Wells was a giant risk heading into Round 1.

But the North Melbourne star rewarded those SuperCoach players who took the risk more than any other player.

Wells averaged 100.6 points a game, the fifth-highest ranked forward in the competition. That’s a rise of 44 points a game from his 2015 output.

The name of the game in SuperCoach is to buy low and Wells is the perfect example. He started the year at a bargain price of $243,900 and at one stage was valued at $528,300.

The biggest price rise after Round 23 was by Essendon’s Mitch Brown — somewhat ironically, considering he was the most popular pick before Round 1 but saw a mass exodus after a string of poor scores before hitting form in the last month of the season.

He hit a season-high $408,200 after Round 23, a rise of more than $290,000 from his Round 1 price.

But other players had bigger price jumps when we needed them. Sam Kerridge is the SuperCoach cash cow MVP for 2016 based on his $302,600 price gain from Round 1-14, the perfect time to trade him out.

For coaches who thought they were getting a bargain with Eagles recruit Jack Redden or reliable premiums in Stefan Martin, Sam Jacobs or Luke Hodge — here is the vindication of your season of torture.

Martin averaged 112 points a game in 2014 and 111 last year before plummeting to an 88 average this year — and that came only on the back of an improved last eight rounds. From Rounds 4-12 he averaged a team and soul-destroying 69 points a game.
