It’s all hands on deck as we enter preliminary final week for SuperCoach head-to-head leagues.

With a host of stars under fitness clouds, having back-ups on the bench could be the difference between a grand final appearance and Mad Monday. And strong performances at state league level have given hope of some reinforcements for round 23.

Adelaide surprisingly dropped Billy Dowling for its clash with the Bulldogs, and he responded by scoring 96 SuperCoach points against West Adelaide in the SANFL from 21 disposals and two goals.

Dowling’s 52,000 SuperCoach owners will he hoping for a quick return, although changes at the Crows seem unlikely after an upset win.

St Kilda’s line-up also seems settled, but Hugo Garcia is doing his best to force his way back into the senior side, scoring a season-high 172 SuperCoach points against Richmond on Sunday. He booted 3.3, had 34 disposals, 12 tackles and nine clearances.

But don’t pin your hopes on a Nathan Kreuger return. He played in the VFL against Sydney and had seven disposals and one mark for 39 SuperCoach points.

Demon Kynan Brown had 18 disposals, eight tackles and 73 points.

Meanwhile, Bomber Saad El-Hawli could be an unlikely saviour after playing his first VFL game since round 11 against Gold Coast on Saturday. The mid-season draftee resumed his excellent form from earlier in the year, racking up 21 disposals, nine intercept possessions and kicking 1.3 on his way to 129 SuperCoach points.

The 13,000 coaches who have El-Hawli in their teams likely picked him as a loophole, but calculations may have changed in prelim final week. A senior debut could deliver a welcome points injection – even if it comes at the cost of to an increased starting price next year.
