SuperCoach AFL 2025: Experts reveal their trades for round 10

An Essendon cheapie is a key to this week’s SuperCoach trade plans. See who’s dumping Caleb Daniel and Matt Flynn, and their brand new premium recruits.

SuperCoach AFL: CJ trap, new DPPs, Gawn plan crazy or genius? | Breaking Even with Al Paton

Trade Boosts are running dry but our experts aren’t shy to use them to try to get ahead in SuperCoach.

In the midst of a rookie crisis, premium upgrades in defence are high on the agenda – and some popular mid-pricers are being shown the door.

See all their moves for round 10 below.

AL PATON

IN: Saad El-Hawli, Jack Sinclair, Mattaes Phillipou

OUT: Riley Bice, Christian Moraes, Caleb Daniel

Cash is hard to find this year and I’m going to need some to fulfil my dreams of getting Marcus Bontempelli or Zak Butters in a few weeks. Daniel has fallen well out of the top-six forwards conversation so if he’s not a keeper, trading now before he loses value makes sense (it also helps clear the decks for the round 12 bye). Jack Sinclair was one of my first picked when the team picker opened back in December, so it’s nice to get him at a discounted price. Trading Daniel and Riley Bice leave me with enough to get another rookie off the field by trading Christian Moraes, which became even more urgent when Henry Hustwaite was left out of Hawthorn’s round 10 team. I’m happy to get Mattaes Phillipou a week before his bubble game, but if my mid bench holds up (Tom Gross best 22?) that cash could also be used for an emergency move from Tom De Koning to Max Gawn.

THE PHANTOM

IN: Jordan Clark, Rookie/Mattaes Phillipou

OUT: Riley Bice, Caideny Cleary/Caleb Daniel

You just can’t go past the value on offer in defence this week. I already have Jack Sinclair and Dayne Zorko – my top two targets ahead of round 10 – so Jordan Clark it is. With a three-figure Break Even, now’s the time to upgrade Riley Bice. His fellow Sydney cash cow Caiden Cleary is probably the one to make way, but Caleb Daniel is in the gun too. Especially given a move to returning Saint Mattaes Phillipou gives me a similar bank. Will Clarko make the decision for us?

TIM MICHELL

OUT: Caleb Daniel or Adam Cerra, Matt Flynn and Jayden Short

IN: Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, Jack Sinclair and Saad El-Hawli

I’ve flirted with getting Lachie Whitfield, Josh Dunkley or Max Holmes, but I’m sticking to the plan I’ve had for weeks of bringing in two Saints before they face West Coast. St Kilda has the best of the byes and this will bolster my numbers for rounds 12 and 14-16. This is my last boost for the year but at 29k in the ranks (thanks, Zach Reid) I don’t really have anything to lose – apart from my dignity.

CHLOE WILLIAMS

OUT: Caleb Daniel, Conor Stone and Riley Bice

IN: Mattaes Phillipou, Jack Sinclair, Saad El-Hawli

These could be the most boring, predictable trades I’ve done ... the three ins will be common, but for good reason. El-Hawli will provide cash generation in a time where not many rookies are emerging, and Sinclair has almost hit basement price. I’m going early on Phillipou to fund those trades, but I’m not mad about it – a match-up against West Coast, and hopefully increased CBAs, await.

PATCH

In: Saad El-Hawli, Jordan Clark and Josh Dunkley

Out: Riley Bice, Caleb Daniel and Matt Flynn

I just don’t quite have the cash to do a one up, one down trade and so I’m going a bit haywire before I head on holiday. I’ve wanted Dunkley for three weeks and am biting the bullet now, and I’m a few thousand off Zorko, so Clark it is. El-Hawli feels as safe as anyone this week, and I do these trades with $200 spare. It’s a sign. Down to one boost and 18 trades and I dunno if this actually gets me closer to full premium, but hoo boy does it feel fun to be involved.

MATT FOREST

IN: Zach Merrett, Saad El-Hawli, Hugh Boxshall

OUT: Riley Bice, Matt Flynn, Isaac Kako

The Flynn experiment, for the second time this season, is over. Merrett getting tagged has kept his price pretty low and he’s a must-have, while El-Hawli and Boxshall, if they play and avoid the vest, are the best rookie options. It’s sad to see Bice go after his outstanding debut season, but he’s tapped out of cash. If Bailey Williams gets dropped then I’d reconsider trading Flynn, but at this stage Clayton Oliver holds, although I don’t love that call after his tagging efforts last week.

DAN BATTEN

OUT: Riley Bice, Ned Long and Matt Flynn

IN: Bailey Dale, Jack Sinclair and Cooper Simpson

On the surface these trades may not be worthwhile, but I have had Levi Ashcroft stuck at F7 for the past couple of weeks and this gets him to F6, so I’d essentially be swapping three 70-80 players on-field to two premiums and a 70-80 scorer. Jack Sinclair was back against the Blues and has West Coast this week, while Bailey Dale has a Break Even of 41 and four of his next five at Marvel Stadium. Jumping on now will hopefully give me an edge – but it means parting with my final boost.
