Late to SuperCoach? Don’t worry, you are in the right place.
To help you pick a competitive starting side, seven expert SuperCoach teams have been collated and combined into the ultimate consensus team for 2025.
Richmond and Carlton players are unavailable for selection after Thursday night’s season opener, but there are still plenty of stars to choose from.
Coaches: Al Paton, The Phantom, Patch, Tim Michell, Chloe Williams, Haydn Kenny, Swiz
DEFENCE
No late changes required here. Just one defender was picked by all seven experts – Sydney’s Matt Roberts. Harry Sheezel featured in six teams, locking him into the consensus side. There was no agreement on a second high-priced defender, but lots of love for value picks Jayden Short and Harry Perryman. We’re going with a four-rookie set-up down back – Ben Paton was the most popular cheapie among our experts.
MIDFIELD
If you hear anyone say everyone is picking the same team this year, it’s fake news. From seven experts there were 25 different names in the midfield – this will be a fun season! Clayton Oliver was the only unanimous selection, with high-priced rookies Elijah Tsatas, Mitch Knevitt and Finn O’Sullivan close behind.
There were five options for M1 with Neale taking the honours, while the experts are chasing value in the form of Connor Rozee, Will Day and Finn Callaghan. Nick Daicos was in just one.
RUCK
Tom De Koning put up a big score in the season opener, but we aren’t worried with a one-two punch of Max Gawn and Tristan Xerri – the two biggest scoring big men in SuperCoach in 2024.
FORWARD
Things are a lot more settled in this part of the ground, with every expert picking Jason Horne-Francis, Jack Macrae, Caleb Daniel and Bulldogs rookie Sam Davidson. Bailey Smith was in six of seven expert teams while Izak Rankine featured in four.
FLEX
Matt Flynn was the winner as the first-ever SuperCoach AFL Flex starter, but midfielders and forwards also featured in expert sides in this slot. Watching how Flex plays out will be one of the must-watch storylines of 2025.
