There are footy rivalries, then there’s the Showdown.
Former No.1 draft pick Jack Watts quickly learned the rivalry between the Crows and Port Adelaide is on another level when he arrived in a trade from Melbourne.
“It was a bit different from me coming over from Melbourne,” he said on this week’s episode of KFC SuperFooty TV.
“We have rivalries but Tom Lynch over at the Crows, he was my mate, I loved Sloaney (Rory Sloane), but they (Port Adelaide players) were like, ‘Kill them!’.”
Watts said the dislike started at the top with coach Power Ken Hinkley and captain Tom Jonas.
“Kenny just hates the crows, a lot of them do.
“It’s definitely something else.”
Watts predicted Port Adelaide could win Showdown 50 by 15 goals and said his former team was peaking at the right time.
“Port Adelaide, I think they might win the flag.
“They’re just getting their top-end talent back at the right time.”
Watts and hosts Michael Warner and Jay Clark also discussed the end of the Richmond and West Coast premiership dynasties, Alastair Clarkson, tip every game in Round 21 and more.
