Collingwood superstar Nick Daicos has taken a big step towards one day captaining the club after being elevated to vice-captain under skipper Darcy Moore, in just his fourth season of AFL.
Daicos, 22, was voted into the leadership group for the first time and will assist captain Moore alongside fellow vice-captain Brayden Maynard.
After just 70 games, Daicos, the son of club legend Peter, is making a stunning dash into Collingwood’s history books already, collecting two All-Australians, a Copeland Trophy, a premiership and the AFL Coaches MVP in his first three seasons.
He has also leapfrogged his brother, Josh, into the leadership group at the Magpies.
Dan McStay, Darcy Cameron and Jamie Elliott join Daicos as newcomers to the leadership group while defender Jeremy Howe has stepped out after seven seasons.

Collingwood EGM of football Charlie Gardiner said each new member brings a different strength to the leadership group.
“Darcy has done an outstanding job and will continue to lead the side for a third season, alongside Nick and Brayden, who will serve as vice-captains,” he said.
“With the support of Darcy (Cameron), Dan, Isaac and Jamie, who each bring different strengths and experience to the table, this group will play a key role in maintaining and driving our standards.
“On behalf of the club, I also wanted to acknowledge Jeremy Howe and his contribution to the leadership group across the past seven seasons. His experience will continue to be an invaluable asset to our side.”
Collingwood is headed to Queensland this week for scratch matched against the Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast Suns, before an opening round clash with GWS to kick off the 2025 season.
