North Melbourne father-son prospect Jackson Archer showed some traits of his famous father as he stepped out for the Kangaroos in a VFL practice match on Saturday.
The son of two-time North Melbourne premiership player and 311-game champion Glenn Archer, the 18-year-old pulled on the blue and white for a clash against Sandringham at Arden Street.
Playing in defence where his dad made a name for himself, the lightly-framed Archer showed a good leap and a fierce competitive nature as he refused to take a backwards step against bigger seasoned opponents.

Wearing the No. 79, he spent time playing on St Kilda-listed pair Dean Kent and Matthew Allison as a deep defender as his father watched on from the other side of the fence.
The opportunity to play with the Kangaroos in the scratch match came as Archer enters his draft year, which he will spend playing for NAB League club Northern Knights.
Knights coach Leigh Clarke said the 185cm Archer had the ability to play a number of roles across the field.
“He’s shown his aerial contest and he has that genetic contest sort of nature about him,” Clarke said.
“He’s been really super engaged with our program. We probably see him in that back role but I think he can play on a wing as well. He’s got the mobility and he’s got a lot of agility as well so there could be some midfield exposure too.”
A current North Melbourne board member, Glenn Archer was a three-time All-Australian and was voted by his peers as the competition’s most courageous player on six occasions.
