Vice-captains announced for AFLX event

Two of the AFL’s most experienced veterans and two of its brightest young stars will be the vice-captains for the AFLX event at Marvel Stadium on February 22.

Two of the AFL’s most experienced veterans and two of its brightest young stars will be the vice-captains for next month’s AFLX event.

Hawthorn champion Shaun Burgoyne joins Deadly under captain Eddie Betts, Brisbane Lion Luke Hodge links with Patrick Dangerfield in Bolts, Western Bulldog Marcus Bontempelli will play with Nat Fyfe’s Flyers and Carlton’s Patrick Cripps joins Jack Riewoldt’s Rampage.

The tournament will be held at Marvel Stadium on Friday, February 22.

Flyers Captain Nat Fyfe and vice-captain Marcus Bontempelli

Rampage captain Jack Riewoldt and vice-captain Patrick Cripps

Burgoyne: “To join forces with one of my mates in Eddie and to lead a team of proud indigenous men against the best of the rest in the league is a great honour.”

Bolts captain Patrick Dangerfield and vice-captain Luke Hodge

Hodge: “Danger is one of my favourite players to watch, and having played previous International Rules Series with him, I know what I’ve signed myself up for and I’m excited. We’re going to have a lot of fun out there.”
