LUKE Hodge will continue his decorated career at Brisbane with a new number on his back.

The champion premiership captain has chosen to wear No.2 at his new club, the same number worn by best mate Jarryd Roughead at the Hawks.

Fellow recruit Charlie Cameron has chosen to wear No.23, the same number he wore at the Crows.

Hodge revealed to in the Herald Sun last week he had requested No.2, while also considering Nos. 15 and 19 so he could do a jumper swap with Roughead when the Lions play the Hawks.

“When I was up there (in Brisbane) I had dinner with Zorks and said, ‘Any chance?’ and he said, ‘Find a new number, buddy’.

“Anyone who’s coming off three best-and-fairests you probably can’t nudge out. No. 15 is a special number, I wore it my whole career at Hawthorn, but this is a new journey now.

“No. 2 would be nice because I’d probably do a jumper swap with Roughie, but I’m not that fazed with it.”

Cameron has assumed the No.23 after it became vacant following the departure of Josh Schache to the Bulldogs.

GOLD COAST has officially moved on from Gary Ablett by handing over his No.9 guernsey.

The Suns have wasted no time allocating new guernsey numbers, with last year’s No.4 draft pick Ben Ainsworth to assume the number.

Ablett played 110 games in the No.9 across seven years at the club, winning a Brownlow Medal and four best and fairests in that time.

Ainsworth will move into the guernsey from No.27.

The highly-rated forward played 13 matches in his first season and booted 14 goals, making his debut in Round 1.

Gold Coast also announced on Monday prized recruit Lachie Weller will wear No.14 and former Adelaide midfielder Harrison Wigg will wear No.26.

SUPERSTAR: CATS HAVE NO DOUBTS OVER ABLETT’S BODY

TRADE DONE: ABLETT’S MOVE BACK TO GEELONG OFFICIAL

Ablett was traded back to Geelong during this year’s trade period after an injury-interrupted season. He had one year to run on his contract with the Suns.

The champion midfielder will continue his decorated 302-game career where it all started at the Cats but the club is yet to announce what number he will wear.

Ablett wore No.29 at Geelong before crossing to the Suns at the end of 2010 but that guernsey is now held by midfielder Cam Guthrie.

The Brownlow medallist could assume the No.11 guernsey, the same number he wore for Geelong Falcons in the TAC Cup after it became vacant following Darcy Lang’s departure to Carlton.

Superstar Patrick Dangerfield opted to assume his TAC Cup guernsey, No.35, upon his move home to the Cats two years ago.
