Catch up on 10 things you may have missed during a massive Round 12

WE KNOW he can roam the rooms and deliver a good one-liner. But did you also know Brian Taylor has a Dusty-like ‘don’t argue’ up his sleeve he had to unleash live on air? Recap all the quirky moments you missed in Round 12.

JUST how observant were you during Round 12?

We all watched the Pies dismantle the Demons, another score review howler up in Brisbane and St Kilda’s season go from bad to worse.

But did you also catch a few of the off-Broadway highlights from the weekend?

From a BT don’t argue to Adam Cooney’s mouth getting him in trouble again and part two of the Kardinia Park security review, here are the 10 things you may have missed in Round 12.

DUSTY-LIKE: WHAT WILL PIES HAVE TO PAY?

ROBBO’S TAKE: WHY CAN’T THE PIES WIN IT ALL?

BT GOES FULL DUSTY

At this point, we have to legitimately ask the question. Is there anything Brian Taylor can’t do?

Not only does he call the footy for Channel 7 on a Friday night, his Roaming Brian review in the rooms is one of the most unique things in football.

And even after all that, we learn that BT can go pound for pound with Dusty when it comes to a ‘don’t argue’.

On Friday night, Taylor was approached by a punter in the Port Adelaide rooms and he was not happy about it.

“I’ve had enough of this guy. You better go over there mate,” Taylor said.

He then made sure the fan got the message, with a stiff arm even Dusty would have been proud of.

BT UNLEASHES A NEW TAKE

But if you think BT’s weekend finishes on Friday night, guess again.

When it comes to pronunciation of player names, Taylor certainly has his own way of doing things.

It’s impossible to hear the names Orazio Fantasia or Jake Lloyd and not think of Taylor.

But there is a new name on the tip of BT’s tongue. The leading commentator added his own level of twang to Geelong’s Brandon Parfitt on Saturday afternoon while the Cats were cleaning up the Roos.

Parfitt had 19 touches and five tackles, so his name was called plenty of times.

Will this new pronunciation catch on? Have a listen here.

THE BEARD IS COMING OFF!

It’s official. The best (and most talked about) beard in football is coming off.

Despite a Queen’s Birthday smashing of Melbourne, Collingwood gave up a defensive 50m stoppage goal to Jack Viney in the third term.

That means Nathan Buckley can finally shave.

For those unaware, Buckley was unable to shave as long as his players kept clean sheets for defensive 50m stoppage goals.

It started as a bit of fun but after being unable to shave for weeks on end, questions were being raised as to just how long Buckley’s beard would grow.

Attention now turns to the players.

The original bet included a stipulation that if the Magpies did concede a goal in that fashion, the players were the ones who couldn’t shave.

Watch these faces!

NOW THAT WAS A FAST BACKTRACK

Has Adam Cooney finally learnt his lesson when it comes to making big statements during Friday night footy?

Not a chance!

Earlier in the year, Cooney declared he would do a “nude lap of Australia” if Eddie Betts nailed a tough set shot for goal. With Eddie being Eddie, of course he kicked it.

On Friday night, Alex Rance sent social media alight with what some footy fans were calling a dive.

So confident was Cooney that Rance would not be punished, he declared, “If he gets fined, I’ll pay it for him.” The former Brownlow medallist was intent on sticking to his guns, until he was alerted as to how much the fine would be.

“He got $1000 last week!?,” a shocked Cooney said before clarifying his comments.

“If he gets fined I’ll pay a portion of his fine. A very small portion.”

#TRADEFYFE

What is Nat Fyfe worth at the trade table?

Following his former side’s fighting win over Adelaide without its star player, one ex- Docker is keen to find out.

Big man Zac Clarke jumped on Twitter after the Dockers’ big win over the Crows and kept his message short and sweet.

While the list management team is unlikely to take Clarke’s advice on board, if the going rate for Lachie Weller is a top two pick, then it might take 15 first round picks to secure Fyfe.

How many times do we have to say it!

When you’ve got an advertisement that uses the word ‘analyse’, make sure the entire word is always together. Or else, you might end up in a similar situation to what happened at Adelaide Oval on Friday.

WHERE DID EVERYONE GO?

What happens when you blow the entire security budget for a season in one week?

Just ask the folks at Kardinia Park, where protecting the centre square has become considerably less important.

After Geelong’s Round 10 win against Carlton, this photo emerged of a staggering number of staff blocking the middle of the ground from any would be streakers.

How times have changed at GMHBA stadium!

After Saturday’s win against North Melbourne, this was the scene post-match.

“Thoughts with the families of the 28 security guards that lost their jobs this week,” former West Coast forward Scott Cummings said on Twitter.

MAKE A GIF OF THAT!

Opposition sides playing at Adelaide Oval know in no uncertain terms where they stand with the home fans.

From the moment the siren blows until the final seconds, they are in for a rough night.

But did the karma bus finally catch up with an overly vocal fan?

While throwing his arms around and giving Alex Rance a wild bake early in Friday night’s clash, one Power fan was heckling so hard his bracelet flung off his wrist.

As soon as he realised the bracelet had come off, he parked the abuse for a few moments and asked security to help him retrieve it from the field.

While watching the game during his recovery from shoulder surgery, Essendon’s David Zaharakis certainly enjoyed it.

RICH THE CODE-HOPPER?

We know the Queensland State of Origin team may be looking for a few new faces after a tough loss against the Blues in game one.

But someone needs to tell Daniel Rich the middle of the Gabba isn’t the place to put his hand up.

The umpires may have (somehow) missed it but the cameras caught Rich red handed with this throw against the Bombers.

As for a call-up to the Maroons though, not everyone was impressed with his form.

OPEN THE WEIRD INJURY FILE

Back injuries are never nice on the football field. They usually involve a crushing marking contest or a bone jarring tackle.

Rarely do they occur in the car park though.

Young Fremantle defender Taylin Duman is the exception to the rule though, after he was forced to withdraw from the game against Adelaide after slipping a disk in his back getting out of his car at the ground on Sunday afternoon.

Duman was replaced in the side by Ryan Nyhuis, who went on to play a big role in his side’s win with 21 touches.
