Richmond captain Trent Cotchin will return to face Gold Coast on Monday night, and he’s brought with him a bizarre new fine for any teammate who gives away a 50m penalty during the game.
Cotchin’s return is one of three changes for the Tigers, with Jack Graham and Oleg Markov also coming in, with Jack Ross, Josh Caddy and Derek Eggmolesse-Smith all dropped.
Gold Coast has also made three changes, with captain David Swallow and Jarrod Harbrow being rested, while Sean Lemmens has been dropped. In the Suns’ line-up come Alex Sexton, Nick Holman and Caleb Graham.
Tigers coach Damien Hardwick revealed Cotchin had enforced a rule that any player who gives away a 50m penalty, will have to change his son, Parker’s, nappy.
The deterrent comes after a series of 50m penalties during the Tigers’ 21-point loss to Port Adelaide, which were bemoaned by the coach.

Hardwick confirmed Cotchin would return to the side, but All-Australian defender Bachar Houli, who completed his two-weeks in isolation after rejoining the team from Melbourne, would be given another week of training before returning.
“We’ve made a bit of a conservative call with regard to his preparation, he did have two weeks in the ISO hub with not a lot of ground to work with, so once again very important to how he plays,” Hardwick said, adding that he was a near certainty to play in the Round 13 Dreamtime game against Essendon in Darwin instead.
“He hasn’t played for some six or seven weeks, he’s so important and so dynamic in the way we want to play the game, so we’ll get another week of training into him.”
Hardwick also confirmed Cotchin would return after being rested for the loss to Port Adelaide.
“He’ll play this week, we then have a couple of five-day breaks so we’ll make decisions along the way … he’s going to give himself every chance to perform at the highest level,” he said.
“But once again we’ll make an assessment after each game and see how he pulls up.”
The Tigers are also celebrating the arrival of Shane Edwards’ and wife Sam’s baby daughter Mya.
“It’s great news for the Tiger faithful,” Hardwick said.
Final selection for Round 12 will be revealed on Sunday evening ahead of Monday’s game.
Harwick said his side would need to be on its best defensive game to beat the Suns.
“They move the ball very strong and very fast forward so once again, we’ve got to be on our best defensive game if we’re to stop that,” he said.
“They’re a side that I love to watch, I love how they’re playing the game and it’s going to be a really good challenge for us … it’s going to be a solid contest I would think.”
BOMBERS MAKE RUCK CHANGE
Essendon ruckman Sam Draper has been recalled to tackle St Kilda’s two-pronged ruck attack alone, with the Bombers choosing to manage Tom Bellchambers once again.
Draper returns for just his third AFL game after being managed last week.
It is the second time in four games Bellchambers has been managed.
The Saints have recalled Paddy Ryder, who will share ruck duties with Rowan Marshall.
Zak Jones (managed) and Seb Ross (calf) also return to bolster the St Kilda midfield.
Key defender Michael Hurley will be a welcome return for Bombers after being managed last week, but fellow defenders Aaron Francis and Mason Redman and forward Devon Smith (all managed) have all gone out of the side.
HAWTHORN has brought in Changkuoth Jiath and Conor Glass for their first games of the year against West Coast, alongside Shaun Burgoyne who returns from a hamstring injury. But the Hawks have lost Isaac Smith (shoulder), Jon Ceglar (toe) and Tom Scully (managed).
West Coast defender Jeremy McGovern is set to play his first game since Round 7.
MIDFIELDER Lachie Hunter returns as one of four changes for the Western Bulldogs’ clash with Adelaide.
Jason Johannisen (ankle), Zaine Cordy (chest) and Josh Bruce (managed) will all miss.
