KEY Kangaroos hold up the backline while the Magpies' twin towers dominate in attack in the round 14 Team of the Round.

BY the end of last season Essendon key defender Cale Hooker was questioning his future with the club and eyeing up an attractive offer from the West Coast Eagles.

Now he is recognised as one of the better backmen in the competition and rightfully takes his place at full back in this week’s Team of the Round.

Our Round 14 side also includes another pair of in-form defenders in North Melbourne duo Lachlan Hansen and Scott Thompson, plus Geelong great Corey Enright. And I don’t use the term great lightly.

Up forward the Magpies pair of Ben Reid and Travis Cloke occupy the key posts, surrounded by a collection of midfielders who can go forward in Chris Masten, Leigh Adams and David Zaharakis.

Then there are the locks, midfield giants such as Sam Mitchell, Dane Swan, Scott Pendlebury and Joel Selwood.

Corey Enright (Geelong):
There is nothing to suggest his 31-year-old body is letting him down.

Cale Hooker (Essendon): A good example of how players can turn their form around.

Scott Thompson (North Melbourne): He now deserves to be mentioned in All Australian calculations.

HB: Jarrad McVeigh (Sydney): Could add a second B&F to his 2008 award.

Lachlan Hansen (North Melbourne): Has clearly appreciated the shift back to defence.

Pearce Hanley (Brisbane): You wonder how much improvement is left in him.

C: Levi Greenwood (North Melbourne): Being able to run is so vital in today’s game.

Sam Mitchell (Hawthorn): A typically prolific ball-winning display.

Dane Swan (Collingwood): Just wants to be left in his beloved midfield.

Leigh Adams

HF: Chris Masten (West Coast ): When Carlton gave up pick 3 for Chris Judd, that became Masten.

Travis Cloke (Collingwood): When he is on, and he has some help, the Magpies win more than lose.

David Zaharakis (Essendon): Has gone from the good to very good category.

F: Leigh Adams (North Melbourne): “Patch” knows only one way…flat-out.

Ben Reid (Collingwood): The time is right for him to join brother Sam as a forward.

Hayden Ballantyne (Fremantle): Like a buzzy, buzzy bee, here, there and everywhere

R: Matthew Leuenberger (Brisbane): When he is fit there are few better genuine ruckmen

Scott Pendlebury (Collingwood): Just rolls along at his own speed in his own world

Joel Selwood (Geelong): Those deep set eyes hide a rare determinatio

I: Dylan Shiel (GWS): Of the GWS midfield babies, he is showing as much as anyone.

Jack Steven (St Kilda): Didn’t knock up as he tried to keep the Saints in it

Rory Sloane (Adelaide): A hard runner who hits packs with genuine relish

S: Matt White (Richmond): When he got on he played with a desperation lacking in some teammates

Coach: Nathan Buckley (Collingwood): Given player availability, Buckley gets the nod ahead of the Scott twins
