Geelong Falcons boys and girls U18 squads for 2025 unveiled

A host of Geelong linked talents and father-sons are among the 84 juniors from the region named in the Geelong Falcons U18 boys and girls squads.
The boys squad includes Geelong Next Generation Academy and AFL Academy member Ben Rongdit and Cats NGA forward Jesse Mellor, who both trained with the Cats this pre-season, with the club having priority access to both.
Geelong will also be tracking 2025 draft eligible father-son prospects Jagger Mooney and Boston Riccardi, the offspring of club greats Cam Mooney and Peter Riccardi.
Bottom-age players Archie Daffy — son of former Richmond best and fairest Nick — and Jax Cooney, son of Brownlow medallist Adam, are also part of the squad.
In a further Geelong link, Cats head of development and Brisbane great Nigel Lappin’s twin daughters Meg — part of the Vic Country summer training hub — and Ally are eligible as Brisbane father-daughters selections.
AFL Academy member Josh Lindsay, who was his side’s best player in the U17 futures match on grand final day, shapes as one of the Falcons’ top prospects for 2025.
Hugo Mikunda and bottom-ager Jack Pickett were also part of the boys summer squads with Lindsay and Rongdit, while Vic Country U16 MVP Ava Bilyk, Stella Huxtable, Meg Lappin and Georgia Tyrrell trained with the Vic Country girls squad.
The Falcons boys squad comprises 49 prospects including eight development players, while the girls contingent features 35 (three development players).
St Joseph’s has 15 of the 84 players in the boys and girls squads, while Newtown & Chillwell (11), St Mary’s (10), Torquay, Barwon Heads, and Torquay (all nine) are also well represented.
The Geelong Falcons boys season begins on March 30 against the Dandenong Stingrays at Trevor Barker Oval, while the Falcons face GWV Rebels on April 5 at Mars Stadium.
