Collingwood superstar Nick Daicos finally responds to bombshell trade rumours
Trade whispers have intensified around Nick Daicos and the Collingwood superstar finally addressed the rumours on Saturday.
Nick Daicos has finally addressed his AFL future after whispers were growing about a potential move away from the Collingwood footy club.
Daicos is the epitome of royalty at the Magpies, with dad Peter a club legend and Nick and his brother Josh well on the way to putting their own stamps on the famous club.

But Daicos’ snubs at both the Brownlow Medal, and particularly the Collingwood best and fairest night, appear to have been the catalyst behind club’s making inquiries about the 22-year-old superstar.
Controversy has swirled around Daicos’ name in recent weeks after he finished in the top three of the Brownlow for a third straight year – and is still yet to win one – and then got overlooked for Collingwood’s E.W. Copeland trophy.
Despite Daicos being widely accepted as Collingwood’s best player, and a hot favourite for a second straight Copeland, he finished second to ruckman Darcy Cameron.
Craig McRae ended up with a little egg on his face that night after making a crack about Daicos’ Brownlow snub, before it was repeated by his club, with the Collingwood coach later stating the Pies might need to change their voting process.
“I think Darcy Cameron is a great winner, but I’d look at the process and there were times where I think Nick probably could’ve got more votes here and there,” McRae said.
Peter Daicos also reportedly stormed out of the best and fairest awards shortly after McRae’s Brownlow quip.
Whatever the background to the rumours, multiple clubs smelled an opportunity and began reaching out to Daicos and his management over a possible bombshell switch.
While no current clubs have been firmly mooted as a Daicos destination, Tasmania has been suggested and will have a war chest when it enters the competition in 2028.
Contracted through 2029, Daicos was yet to comment on any of the speculation.
But after he turned up to Caulfield Racecourse alongside partner Arlette Amor on Saturday for his role as a Caulfield Guineas ambassador, Daicos spoke to reporters about the brewing brouhaha.
“I guess it’s just that time of year, isn’t it?” he said with a grin.
“I’ll leave all that business with my manager, Robbie D’Orazio, he does a great job.
“He always says to me, ‘if it’s anything serious and I need to let you know, I’ll let you know’.
“He hasn’t let me know as of yet. There’s always movement going on but I just wait to hear from a call from Robbie.”
Pushed on whether the Collingwood Army had any reason to fret over its most prized asset, Daicos wasn’t quite definitive, replying: “I can put that to bed. I don’t think so.
“As I said, Robbie handles all that stuff and I haven’t heard anything, so it’s just business as usual and I’m contracted.
“I keep putting my effort and energy into the Collingwood Football Club.”
Already a premiership player, a three-time All-Australian, a club champion and a Rising Star award winner, Daicos was also asked about the Copeland Trophy controversy.
“Darcy Cameron is one of my good mates and he had a great year,” Daicos said.
“Often I’m the beneficiary of a lot of the work he does in the ruck.
“There was probably a lot of boys that could’ve won it and I’m glad it went Darcy’s way.”
While Daicos did his best to put the stories to bed, it appears the rumours won’t go away for good until the Trade Deadline drops on October 15.
