Channel 7 is lobbying to move its camera positions at the SCG in the wake of a second fan-in-front moment in as many seasons.

As Sydney young gun Ollie Florent’s kick on the siren sailed towards the goals in Saturday night’s nailbiting finish against Port Adelaide, a fan jumped from their seat in front of the camera, blocking the view of the ball and the goals.

It marked the second time the issue had reared its head at the SCG within 12 months, after Lance Franklin’s 1000th goal was obscured at the same end of the ground.

“On a match day, our team work with the camera positions provided by the venue and the AFL,” a Channel 7 spokesman said on Monday.

“We have followed up with the AFL and will work with them to find a solution going forward.”

Broadcasters have raised the issue with the ground and the league on a number of occasions, with only a limited number of camera positions available at the SCG.

Those that are available to be utilized for live game shots aren’t considered by television professionals to be in ideal positions from which to broadcast games, prompting further discussions about getting them moved.

Florent appeared to celebrate in the aftermath of his kick, which did not cross the goal line, leaving Sydney two points short of the Power on Saturday night.

Goal line vision was not broadcast until well after the match finished, which former Essendon forward Matthew Lloyd said was “what we wanted to see … but it’s come extremely late”.
