BRISBANE Lions captain Jonathan Brown ruled out of the clash with Melbourne in Darwin due to a hip injury.

BRISBANE Lions have been rocked by the late withdrawal of Jonathan Brown from tomorrow night's clash with Melbourne in Darwin.

Brown did not travel with the Lions to the Northern Territory after succumbing to a hip injury and he will be joined on the sidelines by defender Mitch Golby, who is also a late withdrawal.

Jordan Lisle and Sam Docherty will replace the injured pair.

Brisbane had hoped Brown would overcome the hip complaint and gave him until this morning to prove his fitness but the superstar pulled up sore and was ruled out in a major blow to the Lions' chances.
