FOUNDATION Sun Brandon Matera has taken a step towards reuniting with former housemate Harley Bennell by completing a medical assessment at Fremantle.
The 25-year old is seeking a fresh start and Gold Coast are comfortable for the out-of-contract forward to explore his options.
The Suns have not offered Matera a new deal.

West Coast are also understood to be interested in the West Australian whose father Wally and uncles Pete and Phil all played for the Eagles.
Matera is a proven goal kicker who has booted 124 majors in his 101 games for the Suns. However he has come under criticism for his lack of defensive effort at times.
He appeared to have resurrected his career at the start of this season when he booted six goals in his first game of the year in Rd 3.
He entered a purple patch of form and had 22 goals from 10 games before injury struck.
Matera was one of the first players on the Suns list joining the club as a 17-year-old access selection.
That intake also included Trent McKenzie who is another 100 game Sun who may be in new colours next year. The defender with the deadly left boot is also out of contract and the club is open to discussions with other clubs about a potential trade.
Negotiations over a trade are not expected to be difficult as each player would have the option of entering the draft. The Suns are already in a strong draft position holding 2, 19, 22, 24, 33 and 37.
