The second round of the draft is going to look very different by the time the second night of the national draft rolls around.
Our Mock Draft takes into account the bids that have been matched in the first round, which wipe out a number of selections.
Brisbane holds three second-round selections, but they have been chewed up by matching bids on Levi Ashcroft and Sam Marshall in the first round.
Gold Coast (two second-round picks) also had its selections taken off the board to match a top-10 bid on Leo Lombard, while Essendon (three second-round picks) used points from two of its picks to match a first-round bid on Isaac Kako.
With those changes in mind, here are our second-round selections.

MOCK NATIONAL DRAFT SECOND ROUND
28. Richmond – Harry Oliver (Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro)
Club Sandringham Dragons/St Bedes-Mentone
State VIC
Height 181cm
DOB 15/06/06
CHRIS CAVANAGH SAYS: There’s a fair chance the Tigers might offload this pick, given it is the first selection on night two and rival clubs will likely come for it if someone they want slips through. But if they were to keep it, a rebounding halfback like Oliver would be ideal in the wake of the departures of Daniel Rioli and Liam Baker.
29. Western Bulldogs – Ollie Hannaford (Greater Western Victoria Rebels/Vic Country)
Club GWV Rebels/Sandhurst
State VIC
Height 180cm
DOB 1/9/06
CHRIS CAVANAGH SAYS: A versatile option who is a dog-hungry competitor, Hannaford has shown this year that he can play halfback, half-forward or through the midfield. He brings elite pressure, serious speed and a bit of X-Factor to change games.
30. West Coast – Noah Mraz (Dandenong Stingrays/Vic Country)
Club Dandenong Stingrays/Narre North Foxes
State VIC
Height 198cm
DOB 20/02/2006
DAN BATTEN SAYS: Considered WA forward Hamish Davis but Mraz could prove to be a steal and can fill the void of Tom Barrass in time. Others have gone ahead of the Dandenong Stingrays defender through no fault of his own after sitting out the majority of the season with injury.
31. Port Adelaide – Tom Gross (Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Metro)
Club Oakleigh Chargers/Old Trinity Grammarians
State VIC
Height 181cm
DOB 15/09/06
CHRIS CAVANAGH SAYS: Sticking with a best-available policy for Port so I’m grabbing Gross, who some have rated inside the top-30. He’s a tough and versatile half-forward or midfielder who brings speed, good footy IQ and strong overhead marking.
32. Fremantle – Kayle Gerreyn (West Perth/Western Australia)
Club West Perth/Joondalup Kinross
State WA
Height 199cm
DOB 10/05/2006
CHRIS CAVANAGH SAYS: The Dockers already have two very promising young key forwards in Josh Treacy and Jye Amiss, but adding a third to the mix wouldn’t hurt. Gerryn is one of Western Australia’s better prospects, as a 199cm forward who can also provide back-up ruck support.
33. St Kilda – Tom Sims (Northern Knights/Vic Metro)
Club Northern Knights/Montmorency
State VIC
Height 199cm
DOB 12/05/2006
DAN BATTEN SAYS: With Gerreyn off the board, Sims is the next best forward-ruck available. The Northern Knights big man is athletically gifted at 199cm and can develop under Max King as his body matures.
34. Hawthorn – Hamish Davis (Claremont/Western Australia)
Club Claremont/Subiaco
State WA
Height 190cm
DOB 02/05/2006
CHRIS CAVANAGH SAYS: Like the look of this 190cm forward, who experienced a spike in interest on the back of his performances playing senior WAFL games in the second half of the year. He could add another element to an already exciting young Hawks forward line.
35. Western Bulldogs – Angus Clarke (Glenelg/South Australia)
Club Glenelg/East Gambier
State SA
Height 189cm
DOB 08/05/06
CHRIS CAVANAGH SAYS: The Bulldogs are always moving the magnets, but I think there’s a spot up for grabs for a rebounding defender off halfback and Clarke fits the bill. The South Australian is a reasonable size at 189cm and has drawn comparisons to Essendon’s Mason Redman with his ability to provide great run and carry from defence.
PROFILED: THE BEST SOUTH AUSTRALIAN DRAFT PROSPECTS
Won't be surprised if Essendon around their pick 28 to 40 range look at Angus Clarke from SA (Glenelg). Skilful 188cm running half-back pic.twitter.com/0fMwsb7KrX

36. Greater Western Sydney – Logan Smith (GWS Giants Academy/Allies)
Matching bid from Port Adelaide
Club GWS Giants Academy/Queanbeyan
State NSW-ACT
Height 204cm
DOB 24/09/06
DAN BATTEN SAYS: This is earlier than the Giants would have hoped for a bid and wipes out their second-round pick, but Smith is probably the second best ruckman in the draft pool. The Giants only have two rucks on their list after delisting Braydon Preuss – Kieran Briggs and 20-year-old Nick Madden – so it does fill a need. The 204cm big man impressed at VFL level for the Giants and was an All-Australian at the national champs.
37. Port Adelaide – Josh Dolan (Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro)
Club Sandringham Dragons/Beaumaris
State VIC
Height 177cm
DOB 11/11/2006
CHRIS CAVANAGH SAYS: If there’s an area that the Power could add to, it might be another half-forward. Therefore, I’m looking at Dolan. He’s a strong runner and neat and creative ball user from the Sandringham Dragons who has high footy IQ and sizeable scoreboard impact.

38. St Kilda – Adrian Cole (Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro)
Matching bid from Carlton
Club Sandringham Dragons/St Bedes-Mentone
State VIC
Height 194cm
DOB 05/01/06
DAN BATTEN SAYS: A good result that we were able to take a third pick before the Cole bid, who has been with St Kilda’s academy for five years. The Sandringham Dragons defender is very competitive, has a great tank and will be an effective stopper in time.
39. Carlton – Jasper Alger (Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Country)
Club Oakleigh Chargers/Warragul
State VIC
Height 183cm
DOB 17/12/2006
CHRIS CAVANAGH SAYS: The Blues let Matthew Owies leave during the trade period and Orazio Fantasia is almost finished, so I get the sense they could do with another creative small forward. Alger has blistering speed, a good leap and plenty of tricks. He models his game on GWS forward Toby Greene.
40. Carlton – Ben Camporeale (Glenelg/South Australia)
Club Glenelg/Brighton
State SA
Height 186cm
DOB 21/07/2006
CHRIS CAVANAGH SAYS: A bid on Camporeale around this point of the draft doesn’t come as a surprise and the Blues are ready for it. The father-son prospect from South Australia is a strong ball-winning midfielder with good endurance and clean hands. Carlton will also secure his twin brother, Lucas, later in the draft or as a rookie.

41. Essendon – James Barrat (Bendigo Pioneers/Vic Country)
Club Bendigo Pioneers/Letchville Gunbower
State VIC
Height 194cm
DOB 23/11/2006
DAN BATTEN SAYS: Barrat’s vice-like hands can be used to great effect at either end of the ground, dominating as an interceptor later in the year and starring up forward at the start of the season. The 193cm swingman is familiar to the Bombers’ set-up, having played a VFL game earlier in the year.
