AFL Draft 2024: Experts reveal their final top 30 consensus rankings; Who goes No. 1?

Who will be the cream of the 2024 draft crop? Our two experts CHRIS CAVANAGH and DAN BATTEN have full scouting reports for their consensus top 30.

The countdown to the 2024 AFL national draft is on, with just weeks to go before a new crop of young players get to live their football dreams.

Our draft experts, Chris Cavanagh and Dan Batten, watched a stack of under-18 games this year and have come up with their own lists of top-30 rankings – with a few slight differences.

Together, the two lists make up our final AFL Draft Consensus Rankings for 2024.

Brisbane Lions father-son prospect Levi Ashcroft was the unanimous selection at No.1, but the rest of the top-five shook out a little bit differently.

There were also fairly major differences in rankings of some of the players in the 20s, while both Chris and Dan have given a few names that were unlucky to miss out on winning a spot in their lists.

THE PROSPECTS WHO JUST MISSED OUT

Chris Cavanagh: I almost included West Australian bolter Hamish Davis, who showed plenty playing senior football for Claremont in the second half of the WAFL season. Another West Australian - 199cm forward-ruck Kayle Gerreyn - could also have made the cut, while injuries meant 198cm Victorian defender Noah Mraz wasn’t able to put all he that he has to offer on show. Jack Ough was another one that caught my eye late in the year as a 194cm midfield bull.

Dan Batten: Can we open this up to 40…? Ollie Hannaford (31 on my list) was the next man in. Noah Mraz (28) didn’t quite make the consensus cut and I feel he provides great value in the second round as a key defender. I am a fan of Bendigo Pioneers swingman James Barrat, who I also tried to sneak into my 30. WA forward Hamish Davis was another under heavy consideration. Carlton father-son Ben Camporeale has had a strong past two seasons, while the versatility of Jack Ough at 194cm gives him great scope.
