THIS is what AFL football is all about.
Draftee Brandon White couldn’t contain his emotions when St Kilda picked him at No 40 in the 2015 draft.
A camera was set up live in his Berwick living room with family and friends around when his name was called on Fox Footy’s broadcast.
Pure elation and tears followed, as his family and friends cheered for White, with his dad planting a kiss on the side of his head.

At 188cm, White is a capable defender that can play either tall or small.
He’s good in the contest, uses the ball relatively well and can also have runs through the midfield.
But his unbridled joy was the draft moment that brought the nation to tears, as White immediately gained a raft of new fans.

Tony Elshaug, St Kilda’s recruiting and list manager, said White had been rewarded for a strong season with the Dandenong Stingrays.
“He has good speed, he is a good mark overhead and can kick a long ball,” Elshaug said.
“He is a very competitive player. At times he played a role where he locked down on his opponents. Other times he has let himself go and run through the middle of the ground and set up a lot of plays going forward. He had a solid championships for Vic Metro and unfortunately just towards the end of the year he got ill before the TAC Cup finals but acquited himself well.
“He is a local boy from Berwick and we are really pleased to have Brandon come to the club.”
