Carlton’s Patrick Cripps has shattered the record books on his way to a second Brownlow Medal.

The Blues skipper was in a field of his own inside Melbourne’s Crown Casino as he etched his name into the record books by registering an eye-watering 45 votes.

The astonishing tally shattered the previous mark of 36 votes held by Ollie Wines and Dustin Martin.

In a historic night, Collingwood’s Nick Daicos also broke the previous mark as he finished second with 38 votes.
