A woman has been convicted for falsely using another person’s road tag to dodge more than $1000 in tolls.

A woman dodged more than $1000 in toll fees over two years by using someone else’s electronic tag, a court was told.

Jackie Nguyen pleaded guilty at Richlands Magistrates Court on Monday to one count of dishonestly applying an electronic tag for her own use, committed back in 2015.

The court was told Nguyen drove through a toll point at Acacia Ridge using an electronic tag at 1pm on September 23, 2015.

The tag was registered to another person, allowing Nguyen to pass through the toll point without being charged.

Between December 2016 and September 2017, she used the tag 341 times across various locations in Brisbane.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Noel Pedersen said Nguyen racked up $1022.26 in toll charges without paying for them.

Defence lawyer Isabelle Shoshani said her client, who was already serving a separate six-year sentence, had spent a lengthy amount of time in pre-sentence custody for this offending.

She said Nguyen was willing to pay back the amount and had been cooperative with police.

Magistrate Aaron Simpson recorded a conviction but did not punish Nguyen further.

She was ordered to pay compensation for the toll charges.
